Last weekend was the perfect day for baking because it was cold and drizzly outside. So I made up a batch of cookies for the kids to decorate Halloween cookies. I thought I would get some cute pictures of decorated pumpkin cookies....Not so much! Here is Chase's masterpiece.. Every time I looked over more frosting was being piled on his cookie and more candy, then I would grab the camera and suddenly it was gone so he would say "oh I'm almost done" and start more frosting, followed by more candy. Smear, smack, start again, repeated. He never actually ate the cookie. Sadi wanted no part of that orange frosting just give her the cookie!! She ate those things so fast here is her masterpiece... Kelsey took her time, cut every piece of candy....she made a pumpkin wearing glasses...what a smart cookie!!

Don't say it if you don't mean it!
This is something I am constantly telling Matt with the kids. Well this isn't exactly in that context but it is funny! Sadi loves to play "hiding" with her blankets. Last night she was playing with Matt and every time she went to throw the blanket over their heads she would punch Matt in the eye (on accident). Well after this happened two or three times Matt very sarcastically said "Why don't you punch me in the eye one more time". So with that Sadi turned, balled a fist and wack! Yup right in the eye! She did it so fast he couldn't react. It was hilarious!! And while laughing my butt off all I could say was "see what I mean, don't say it if you don't mean it!".

It'll only hurt for a second...
Saturday we went and got our flu shot (not the swine flu shot). I had told the kids we were going. Chase was a little nervous till he found out that he was going to get a shot just like big brother Kyle. Daddy went first, he said "oh that just tickled", then it was Kyle's turn..he wasn't to convincing on his tickle laugh (it came out kind of ahhhhh ha ha painful). Then it was Chase's turn he didn't want to be held, rolled up his own sleeve, all ready...poke, he thought for a second and then the OOOOWWWWWWWW! I was at the same time getting my shot so I didn't witness his shot but heard it, everyone did! They all got some fun band-aids to wear. I haven't exactly told them we are going again in a few weeks to get the swine shot....I'm guessing it will be a little harder to say it will only hurt for a second again. Sadi is not in the shot because she got the nasal spray (next time she gets the shot).

Hawaiian Style
Last night we had Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner. It was my way of trying to get the kids to try some new things. What kid doesn't like to pile on their own toppings? They were super yummy and here is what we found out: Chase likes coconut, mandarin oranges, chow mein noodles, almonds, and of course lots and lots of olives! He thought since the bowl was by his plate I had just given him his own bowl of olives and wanted to know why no one else got any. Sadi loves cheese (only shredded don't you dare try to give her a slice of any kind), coconut, and chow mein noodles although I am pretty confident she thought she was being bad and eating sticks and that is why she ate them. Kelsey will not try anything and stuck with what she knows...cheese, and olives. So Matt and I had lots of other yummy colors on our plates! It was a good dinner!

Four Eyes
Alright that joke was only funny when you were 4 right? Well, Matt got glasses this week and I think he looks really good in them. I think it makes him look like a professor. Although that is not what I wanted to blog about. You know there are certain things that only men or women should do right? Well, I discovered a new one this week. You should never let your husband go to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for you. I had dropped off a prescription for a face cream for Kelsey at the pharmacy and Matt had offered while he was out to pick it up. How could I pass that up right? However my senses were telling me otherwise I quieted them by telling myself what could go wrong? I had told him the Dr. had warned that it was an expensive scrip but had given us a pharmacy card that clearly stated:YOUR PRESCRIPTION WILL NEVER COST MORE THAN $25. I gave him the card to give to the pharmacy and sent him on his way. Well those ladies at the pharmacy must have saw SUCKER written all over him. When they came back with it was $165.....at this point I would have laughed and walked away. NOOOO not Matt, he bought it!!! After all was done we saved $100 but still who does that? Mind you this is a tiny bottle and a 1 month supply!! He was not wearing his glasses when he went and I have since told him he should wear them all the time...hey glasses do make you look smarter!
Day with Mommy..
Today I took Sadi to the park just me and her, a sort of girls morning out. Chase had school and I was thinking how nice it would be to clean the house, do some laundry, and get some bills paid with just one kid at home. Then I thought to myself, what am I thinking? All to soon I will have no kids at home and I can clean all I want to (okay I never want to but I could do it then). So Sadi and I went to a new park I have been wanting to check out. I am so mad I didn't discover this park earlier or we would have been there all summer, it is so nice. It was freezing outside but I still played peek-a-boo and went down some slides with her until she was ready to go home.It was so much fun! It is nice to have a few hours to just be with my little princess.

"Beep" in the night....
Has your dream ever been interrupted by a fire truck beeping? Or in other words has your smoke detector woke you in the middle of the night? I have decided that is the only time our smoke detectors batteries go out is in the middle of the night. Never once has that annoying little "beep" started say in the daylight hours! This happened to us the other night. I was talking to my sister about this and we were both laughing because you know you think it will just beep once or twice (it is sooo not consistent) and then stop right? It doesn't! And then you have to figure out which one is beeping, so in the middle of the night you are waiting underneath each one for that annoying "beep" and feel proud of yourself when you find the culprit so that when you do find it you can rip it down only to be reminded whoever built this thing had to use a 9Volt battery to power it!! Which we never seem to have! Why can it not take say a AA battery? And the best part is when you take it down rip the battery out and say I'll deal with it tomorrow you crawl back in bed and a few minutes later when you are just about to dream again....."BEEP!". You tell me how that thing is still beeping with no battery!!! So until I remember that 9 Volt battery our smoke detector is still beeping in the garage!
Family Visit
My sister Susan and her kids came for a short visit this week, as they were passing through town for a California vacation. It was so fun to see them even if it was just for a day.
We went to the park while we were waiting for Chase and Kelsey to get out of school. Jake got to see what a skate park in Dayton looks like and was quickly disappointed..sorry Jake! Sadi loved sitting in the swing to WHOLE time, and Susan tried out this whatever it is called, I got a good laugh as she landed on her butt trying it out! I wish I would have got a picture of it, but I guess I forgot to charge my camera after Chase's birthday and missed out on pictures all day.Of course Bogies came bearing lots of gifts as always and somehow seem to sneak something annoying into every gift. Exhibit A: They gave Chase a cute bear along with a whistle to blow when he is going a bear hunt (Tori played that song for him when we were in Utah and he has been talking about Tori taking him on a bear hunt ever since).
