Double Digit House

It's official...we have hit double digits!  Our baby turned 10.  We started the morning with breakfast in bed.  Her choices this year changed several times but she finally decided on a maple bacon donut and chocolate milk.  This girl would live on bacon if we let her I think.
She enjoyed eating her breakfast and opening cards from family.

She wasn't sure what she wanted to do to celebrate but did know she wanted to spend the day with her best friend.  We decided on a day at the hot springs.  We packed a lunch and stayed all day.  It was HOT, but these girls had so much fun together.
Once Daddy was done working we picked up some pizza and headed home to continue the party.
She was excited to finally open her presents.  She really didn't have anything she was really wanting, and since she had changed her list so many times I don't think she even had any idea what she might be getting.  The last list she gave me had a cat, cat food, cat toys, everything for a cat on it.....as you can see, that was a big NO!
She did get a few things that I think she was excited about.  From Mommy and Daddy she got a fashion designer kit, some new Lego's, new Shopkins, new coloring pencils and coloring books,
and the one thing she was very excited about that was on her list, CHOCOLATE!
One gift she received from us was for a a surprise she will get to enjoy  later in October.  Football tickets to see the Nevada Wolf pack game where she will get to meet some of the University cheerleaders.
Her bestie knows just what she likes, and picked out the perfect gift for this artist.
Kelsey sent her a designer book that she can design, clothes, hair, and accessories.
She also bought her a new purse, which she loves to take EVERYWHERE!
She really had her heart set on me making her a cake, but with the chaos of moving, I may have encouraged her to let me buy her one this year.  It didn't take much convincing when she found this chocolate on chocolate cake in the bakery.  Can't believe our baby is 10!
Although I felt guilty about not doing enough  for her special day, she said she had a great birthday!

Back on the field

Sadi's cheer practices started over the summer, and a few weeks before school started it was time to get back on the field. They have an experience day for all teams in the league, where they have a full day playing mini games.  Not all the girls had uniforms yet to wear so our team came up with a little tutu/shirt combo to wear for the day.
It was a hot day, but it sure is fun watching our little cheerleader enjoy doing what she loves.  Her kicks are so high, and she does them with such little effort.
We are ready for another season of games, not sure I'm ready for a season of practices :/

Moving Decisions

After months, and months of moving indecisiveness this finally happened.....
The plan WAS to move to Reno, but in the end we decided to stay in Dayton and keep our roots in this town.  After only 10 days on the market...and what seemed like a rotating door of people coming in and out, we sold our house!  We will be moving to the other side of town which will cut a little time off of Matt's commute, and put us closer to the middle and high school.  We purchased a new home that had fell through escrow with another buyer and it seems like NOTHING has gone smoothly since!  I have found that this kind of stress is NOT FOR ME.  It makes me a little sad everyday to think about leaving and hoping this is the right move.

Movers

Today we moved Kelsey back to campus.  She will once again have a job as a resident assistant, this year living in Argenta Hall.  This is the dorm she lived in freshman year, and is now back as a Senior!  Oddly enough her room is just 3 doors down from her freshman room....kind of feels like she has come full circle.
Moving day is not exactly "fun" for anyone.  Matt was able to help us with the first load and then he had to head to work.  Good thing we have some extra little hands.
We met a sweet little mother/daughter who were really jealous in fact of those extra hands and wanted to hire them.  We got Kelsey moved in and we went and helped them move in as well, but I asked my kids please not be paid.
She would not hear of it!  She secretly told my kids that "sometimes you do things just because it's the right thing to do, but not today!" and shoved some money in their pocket.  She WAY overpaid them!
We took Kelsey on one last shopping trip to pick up some college essentials.
Then we said our goodbye's and left her in her new room.  Dorm sweet dorm.....

Pampering

We finally found the time to go enjoy those gift certificates Matt gave me and the girls for Mother's day.  Sadi has been asking me constantly when we could go to the spa, but with everyone's hectic summer schedules this was the first chance we have had.  While Matt was working, and Chase was at a birthday party and both girls finally home at the same time we were able to make it happen.
This was Sadi's first pedicure, and she enjoyed every minute of it!  The only part she didn't like was she couldn't understand anything they asked her (there English wasn't great).  In her defense I couldn't understand much of what they were saying either.
Sadi decided this is the only way to ever paint your toes again, and Kelsey thought this was the best Mother's day gift I ever got.
Once our toes were done, we headed to the Cheesecake factory for dinner and dessert.  Delicious!
A fun, pamper filled night spent with my girls....a pretty special gift!

It's not all work

Matt has been working long days and lots of hours since his new job promotion.  The day after the kids arrived home he invited me to go with him to a work/social event he was invited to at the Reno Aces baseball game.  We enjoyed watching the game from the suite, paid for by one of his vendors.  Even Archie visited us while we were there!
It was a beautiful night, and I was happy that we actually got to enjoy the game (in the past these events seem to turned into all business).  Even better was they were playing against the Salt Lake Bee's.  I had to root for both teams :)
It seems like our life is moving at a fast pace right now, and it was nice to have a night of down time and enjoy being together.
