First trip to the Library!

Okay I guess this is pretty pathetic, today is the first time my kids have been to the library. I took them to story time where they listen to stories, sing a song, and do a little craft. It was really fun and they both really enjoyed it. I let Chase pick out three things to take home...I told him since he is three he can borrow three things. This boy just lit up! He chose 2 books and a movie. I'm not really sure he knows he is just borrowing them though, since he thinks I paid with my credit card (library card). Oh well I have a few weeks to tackle that one. Sadi also got to pick a book, check out the title, so appropriate for her. (All by Myself)
Can't wait to go again!

Memorial Day Weekend...

Well, the weekend started with big plans and quickly changed. Saturday was beautiful so we were able to bust out some of Chase's toys that have been in hiding in the garage all winter. He took Sadi for a ride around the yard in his Ford truck. Although she just wanted to drive she was willing to go along as a passenger and tell him how to drive, even at 21 months she knows how to tell a boy how to drive. This shot reminds me of a little old couple ready to ride off into the sunset.
Kelsey had her best friend Cacee over. They quickly had to change plans as we got a big thunder storm that knocked our power out for over 4 hours. That is an eternity for teenagers with all their electronic gadgets. So they decided to take a turn in the little kids bounce house. Matt whipped out the camera and snapped some shots of them he promised to show to any boys they said they liked. I think the neighbors heard them screaming NO NO!!
What do you think, maybe your to big if it's sinking on you right? Sunday and Monday Sadi had a bad cold and high high fever. So I got to be super Mommy and hold her ALL day long. I hate when my kids are sick. So instead of going out we stayed home....EVERYONE took a nap (except Mommy of course I was pinned with a kid on my lap). Poor thing.....
So at least we could have a BBQ right, we had all the food ready. Matt went and put the meat on the grill......five minutes in...poof out of propane!!! A quick run the store will solve that...yeah right. Only store in Dayton out of propane. So we had pre-made chicken and called it a day! Better luck next year!

Awww... can we keep him mom?

The five words every Mom dreads to hear right? Because you all know that some disgusting thing has made it's way into your house. I have to say I brought this one on myself though. While walking out to bring in the trash can this week I spotted a huge lizard sitting on a rock out front. I knew Chase would love to see him, but I also knew he would be gone by the time I went in the house to get him. So I hurried and grabbed the bug net and cage and caught this lizard.Chase was thrilled, after all Mommy had caught him a pet right? Yeah, I didn't quite think that part through. I did let him enjoy him for a day but decided a cage was just not right (for anyone really....what are the odds he wouldn't get loose in my house? Yuck.)
I looked him up online, he is a collard lizard, had kind of a blue ring around his neck, he was very pretty.
Chase was so sad we let him go, look at this face.....
Then I remembered I had some left over fake lizards from Kelsey's Survivor birthday party last year. So I snuck in the house and found them, picked out a real good one, brought it out to Chase in my hand and pretended I had caught him a new lizard, one he could keep as a pet! What do you know, he fell for it!!
He loves his new pet lizard as do I. So far this thing has slept with him the past two nights and been shopping with us twice. I am sooo glad I did not keep the real thing. Check out that face, so careful to not let his lizard escape!

A partridge in a pear tree?

So for all of you who have fruit trees you know it is now time to spray the trees (if you are lucky enough to have any). We have like 5 different fruit trees and finally the first signs of possibly getting some fruit this year (after patiently waiting for years). My pear tree finally showing some possibility. Well I had been checking and checking on it. Don't need to spray yet I tell myself, okay pretty soon I will need to spray. Two days ago Matt says come check this out. He is pointing to our pear tree. There right in the middle........ A birds nest! I knew as soon as I saw it exactly which bird it was. Every year we seem to have a different bird that is there every morning in our backyard. Last year it was a Western Meadowlark, had the most beautiful song. This year I'm not sure what it is. It is very small and has a very bright yellow breast (not sure if this is the male or female though). I had been telling Chase every day I saw it, "there's our bird". We watched it eat and gathering up some of Broozer's hair that had fallen out so I knew it was building a nest, I had no idea that it was building it in my tree. Our little tree is only like 8 feet tall (if that). I thought this was kind of interesting though if you look at the first picture you notice what looks like a string right? That is part of the nest. It is like tied to a tree branch. I guess you know your wind is bad if even the birds tie their nest down.
Here is the top view of the nest. Pretty cool. And the last picture here is of the bird actually in the nest. If you look really close you can see it sitting with just his profile showing. I didn't want to get to close.
I love nature but I really want some fruit!!! I am hoping it ends successful for everyone.

Mother's Day X 2

I got a second and third Mother's day surprise this week. Monday Matt had to run some errands in town and decided to take Chase and Kelsey with him. When they came home they had bought me just what I had wanted for Mother's day. Matt let them each pick out a flower for me to plant out back in our flower garden. (He picked Sadi's but that was a no brainer as we all know she would have picked a yellow one for me). Here is my lovely new additions......

Chase picked white and Kelsey a purplish-blue one. On Tuesday Matt told me to take off and go do something all by myself. I had no idea what to go do or where I was going to go but I was not going to turn down that offer. So I decided I would go shopping for some much needed summer clothes. It ended up being a very frustrating day...I have no idea how many pairs of shorts I tried on...after 6 hours of shopping I finally found 1 pair and don't really like them but felt like I couldn't come home empty handed so I bought them. Why can't women's sizes be universal like men's? Anyway thank you Matt for the break and let's just keep this Mother's day theme going.

A great May day...

Mother's day was a very nice day all around, I was lucky enough to get breakfast in bed. Matt had the kids make me breakfast and I even got to eat alone (Matt made all the kids leave me alone to eat). It was a beautiful day we played outside all day. I unveiled the sandbox which had been in hiding from winter and also the playhouse. Chase and Sadi played for hours in there. It was a nice relaxing day. Matt came home from work and Barbecued steak and I made scones, a yummy dinner. Hope all you Mom's had a very enjoyable day!!

Pancake Genius!!

Whoever invented this should win a medal! I saw this at Costco and had to buy it..it is called Batter Blaster...oh yeah pancakes in a can!!!! It is a bottle just like whip cream comes in, makes about 28-4 inch pancakes. Just shake, blast ,and enjoy. This was totally designed for lazy mom's like me. I don't enjoy cooking breakfast in the morning because I am too tired. Great thing is just want one pancake? you make one- cap it put it back in the fridge!!
I have to say I had sooo much fun making these, I quickly found out it is so easy to make all kinds of shapes....like Micky mouse heads, Chase loved!

Hearts, Letters, you name it...and for the littlest princess it was just too easy to make her favorite thing......

A pancake bracelet!!! Look at that smile, she had fun, and ate it too!! Go get yourself some! It was like 10 dollars for a three can pack.

Dressing up with dinner

Do you find yourself dressing up for dinner? How about dressing up with your dinner? Sadi has some obsession with bracelets and trust me she can make a bracelet out of just about anything. This is just a few examples of what she can make......Who needs a tortilla for a taco when that tortilla makes such a nice bracelet! And she will eat everything out of it and continue eating as though there is nothing on her arm. Bread bracelet easy one right? try getting this kid to eat a sandwich!!
