When I grow up..

"My kids are going to eat fruit salad, like pretty much everyday"-Chase

So Chase has been talking non-stop about when he is grown up.  Everyday he is talking about what he is going to do, where he will live, how many kids he is going to have and exactly what they are going to eat.  Sometimes his ideas change a bit, but there is one constant which I cannot figure out what it is about this one certain thing...because it's fruit salad.  Not just any fruit salad, his fruit salad.  So, I decided we better try this salad to see if it was really as good as he was telling us about it.  I told him he should make up a grocery list and I would take him to get the supplies.  He wrote out his grocery list and carefully checked it.  Had to have exactly seven items (that part will come later).
I let him tell me exactly what he needed to buy and let him choose out the items.
When we got home I let him assemble his salad (with a little help with the cutting parts).  About the seven items, that is we are told because there will be 7 stations one for each of his kids to help with.  That's right 7, as in he is going to have 7 kids.  What a lucky wife.
I tried my hardest not to cringe when he started pouring in the marshmallows.  I wanted him to have complete control over how he made this, which was harder than you know.  I personally have never made fruit salad with marshmallows in it so again I have no idea where this idea came from.  The finished product...
(I promise there is fruit in there)
I cannot tell you how proud he was of this, and literally stared you down and waited for your reaction to the salad.  Sadi was ecstatic as was he about how delicious it was!  I told him it was so good we should only eat it on very, very, special occasions.  He wanted to write down the recipe to give to his wife so she could make it when he was at work.

Feel free to copy this recipe before we put it in the family vault!

Welcome to the Neighhh..borhood!

Some new "neigh"bors have moved in just a few houses down.  These are the wild horses we usually see all over the fields here.  A few weeks ago we saw this black horse eating the neighbors clover and seeing his "trail" in the streets.  It was pretty unusual.  But since then we have been seeing more "trails" and last night while driving by we saw he invited some friends to his new pad.

First camping trip of the season

This week was the first time camping this summer, can you believe it?  We had this trip planned for months, because we were going to be going with our "besties".  Matt ended up having to work the first day, and Kelsey was off to girls camp for the week so it  was just me and the little kids.  We went to Fallen Leaf Lake which we had never been to before, and it was beautiful.  The kids had a blast!!  They had all sorts of fun with their best buddies.
Charli, Koree, Chase, Sadi, and Kylee
We all had fun swimming in the lake (a bit rocky but the water was so refreshing).  It was a little bit of a hike to get there, so as soon as we could see the water all the kids were running as fast as their little legs would go.
We had our traditional scavenger hunt, which only ended in one injury this year.  The lucky band-aid wearer?....

The kids went rock climbing,
made squirrel houses around just about every tree (then chased the squirrels crazy to get them to come visit their houses),
and had loads of fun in their friends new trailer telling ghost stories.
The kids had so much fun playing with their friends, I'm not sure they even knew we were there.  It was one of the most relaxing camping trips I have ever been on.  What'ya say Bostrom Family up for another trip?

Fun on the 4th

Hope everyone had a fun, safe 4th of July.  We had a really fun day.  We took Uncle David to the parade in Virginia City, had a barbecue, went bowling and out to dinner, and then watched the fireworks from Daddy's work (once again Daddy had to work).  Forgot to pull my camera out most of the day but did manage to get one picture of my lil firecrackers at the parade.

For those of you who had to miss out on the fireworks because of the fires, I think they shipped all your fireworks to us, it was one of the most spectacular shows I have seen.
