What could go wrong?

No birth control, and a man in charge...what could go wrong? Okay before you jump to any conclusions I am referring to Matt and "his" cat. Remember less than a year ago when we got that kitten for Matt? He promised to take care of it AND to make sure to get her fixed. Well after many many many reminders to do any of this we were awakened on Sunday morning to this blessed event..... Yup not one, two or even three....no SIX (count them if you dare) kittens!! (by the way the number 3 is not deformed that is it's tail). Matt I think was thrilled, and I actually overheard him on the phone with someone telling them we will probably keep one. REALLY? Let's see we had one, you lost interest in a day, didn't get her fixed and probably won't help with these. Yeah sign me up for another dose of crazy! Not!

Wild Wild West

Once again it was date night at our house this week. The theme this month that I chose was wild wild west! Who hasn't wanted to live back in the old western days? Okay seriously not me, but it was fun to pretend for a night. We started the date in the wild west saloon, drinking some sarsaparillas (IBC root beer) and eating some spicy chili and cornbread..yum.
We also tested our shooting at the wild west shooting range. It got kind of competitive but I will reluctantly say Matt was the better shot.However..when we returned to the saloon I challenged him to a game of poker...not just any betting chips for this game. I had made some official poker chips which we were able to secretly write on the back of these chips 5 minute jobs we wanted from the other. It could be anything from taking out the trash to a back rub . And we'll just say the stakes were high!!See this? That is my poker face (I'm not gonna lie, the cowboy hat helped). And I cleaned house!!!!

Are you prepared?

No, were not but were getting there. This past weekend I went to the cannery in Reno to get a start on our food storage. This is what I left with.... Doesn't look like alot, but the best part is it has a 30 year shelf life! As we were leaving and people were loading their cars with supplies they were talking about what they were going to make for dinner with all of this stuff. Really? Doesn't that defeat the idea of storage? Oh well, all I thought about is what shelf do I not want to use for the next 30 years because seriously I am not cracking this open unless I have to!

Did you get lucky?

Once again we tried to catch that tricky leprechaun, and once again we were tricked by him! We built a different trap this year....a leprechaun hat with a ladder with some fake gold at the top (rolos) which he would fall through when he reached to top. My favorite part of this trap was the sign Chase made all by himself which clearly stated :No Climen!!! (pretty good spelling right?) We knew that leprechaun would be sure to break that rule. But alas in the morning there was no leprechaun in the trap!! He had pulled that ladder on the inside and climbed out!! He had left us quite the mess! He dropped clover confetti and gold coins all over the house!! He left the kids a bag of special cookies with a note attached which read: "You didn't catch me so I won't be grantin' yer wishes, but because yer so sweet you get me leprechaun kisses!"
He dug into the bowl of lucky charms we left him...made a huge mess of them and only ate the marshmallows!!
Chase thought this was hilarious when he followed the trail of glitter to the bathroom to find that he had jumped on the toiled and peed in it! It turned the water green and had gold glitter floating on top.
He also spent some time in the kitchen climbing the fridge,
and turned our milk green!!!
After a very green morning (which started waaayy to early due to Chase's excitement) it was off to put our green shirts on. We wanted no pinchin at our house. Chase and Sadi tried on their leprechaun kisses(cookies) then gobbled them up!
Chase planned all day for a new trap next year!! Hope you all had a lucky St. Patty's day!

A whozit kind of day!

This week was read across America with Wednesday being Dr. Seuss's birthday. You all knew that right? Well Wednesday morning the kids woke up and found all kinds of strange things in our house. It was as though Dr. Seuss himself had been there. We found left feet, left feet, left feet, right... We found low feet and high feet...
We found signs on the mirror....
We even had green eggs and ham!!!
Kelsey do you like green eggs and ham? Yes. I like them Sam I am.
Chase do you like green eggs and ham? Yes, yes, I like them Sam I am.
Sadi do you like green eggs and ham? I TOLD YOU LAST YEAR SAM I AM I DO NOT LIKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM!!!!
We had a special dessert later, thing 1 and thing 2 cupcakes.
And we ended the night reading all our favorite Dr. Seuss books. Isn't reading fun?

She was so excited to get ballet shoes and tap shoes. Probably a bit more excited about the tap shoes. Here she is before class started.Take a look at this girl, she loved it!!

Getting Saucy!

So I am barely keeping up with my new year's resolutions, one of which being having a date night with Matt every month. Although we went out to dinner once this month I decided I wanted to plan a date night in every month (why not make those resolutions harder right?). So although I had a really cool date planned for this month, I really needed to do a lot of printing for it well....our printer decided to take a crapper, perfect!! Add that to the list of things I "get" to buy! Although this was to be for a later date it had to work because last night was the last day of February! (can't believe that). Anyway I had a really cool invitation made up to invite Matt to the Grand Opening of "Matt and Karen's Pizzeria" but again couldn't print it! So he got an e-mail invite. It actually turned out pretty fun. I had all the fixings for pizza and bread sticks to be made by none other than us! Not sure why Matt decided a square pizza but hey I just went with it. We snagged a booth at our restaurant. Had some ice cold sodas and the pizza...delicious!!
Although it was cheesy, I'm glad Matt goes along with my date night's in. To be honest, they are becoming some of my favorite nights!
