There's a bird on your head
Yesterday was crazy hair day at preschool. Sadi was really excited. We built one great big nest on her head, complete with sticks and a bird. Ms. Beanie thought this was hilarious. Funny thing, this hairdo stayed in ALL day. Apparently trying to do a cute ponytail or braids, not for her...build a gravity defying birds nest...keeper! Whatcha think, new hair trend?

For the love of the game...
Can we just not cheat? On Saturday we were at Chase's Baseball game watching cheaters.....I mean grown men teaching our kids how to play baseball ALL WRONG. I get stealing bases...sort of. But when the ball is overthrown to first base do we really need to steal 3 bases to make a score? Come on people!! They say they don't keep score but they do! Do we want to teach our kids it's all about the score and not learning?...psshhh! On the upside of the annoying cheating game Chase had a great day! His coach gave out the first ball of the season....
Chase's first big hit. Even though he got out before he made it to first base I liked that the kid tried to maneuver around the first baseman like he was playing tag and not baseball. That's my boy!
Green thumb...maybe?
This year I decided to plant a garden....okay most will not call this a garden, but we are. I saw this planter box on t.v. and fell in love with it, already cut to size just have to assemble it, so easy anyone could do it. So, I took Sadi out shopping one day to buy some veggies for our garden. She was ready to dig into the dirt...until I started pouring the dirt to which she said..."Ewww, it smells like poo!!"
It may not take, but it sure will be fun to watch. She is ready to water and watch it grow, although I highly suspect she thinks were growing chocolate.
My favorite part of the garden is the handwritten plant markers she and Chase made. I mean who else has CiLAnt#u growing in their garden? Love it!

And so the list grows on....
Last night Kelsey was inducted into the National Honor Society. Only 9 were selected from her school for this honor. Not only do they have to have at least a 3.5 G.P.A (no problem she's still holding strong with her 4.0), they have to write and essay, and be selected by the teachers at the school to be chosen (apparently there were quite a few who didn't make it). I was a proud Mom watching as she took the pledge,
and signed on for yet another task to add to her ever growing school year. Honestly I do not know how she (or I) am going to juggle all of these clubs/activities. Ready or not here we go!

Mother's Day Bliss
Yesterday I had one of the most relaxing Mother's Day ever. It started with breakfast in bed (which I knew was coming because of my 6 yr. old who can't keep a secret, he even told me what my present was before he handed it over). Matt had called from work the night before and asked to talk to Chase, I heard him mumble "mmmhhhh, uh-huh, okay" as he handed the phone back to me he said real quiet "that was about your breakfast tomorrow". Apparently Matt told him what he(Chase) was going to be doing in the morning and to be sure NOT TO TELL MOMMY (he stressed this many times). Chase was sooo excited for the morning to come....you know that surprise breakfast and gift he was going to "surprise" me with. Thankfully no one let him serve my breakfast at 5:45 when he got up to fix it, they made him wait until 7:30. I thank you all. After my delicious breakfast in bed I was adorned with more gifts than I deserve. Where did I spend my day......
Yup sitting here in my new beach chair, reading my new books. I sipped on my mommy juice and laughed until I cried reading my new book. Best part? My kids actually left me alone to read and relax. How you ask? This is how.....

My other gift was a pool...just my size right? The kids had so much fun splashing around that they really didn't notice I was ignoring them relaxing. I only had to "watch this mommy" a few times. Pretty amazing diving skills right there.
I am thankful that I have such amazing kids who fill my life with laughter, love, and fighting new lessons to teach every day.

Lunch Date
Today I was invited to go to a special Mother's day lunch. My date was a true gentleman, he payed the entire $3 for my lunch on his own. I even got a flower with lunch. He asked me what I would like to eat (I could choose either heart shaped chicken nuggets or a chef salad). He went back to get me my very own spork when they forgot to give me one. Because my lunch didn't come with fruit he offered me his strawberries. The other Mom's that were there commented on how thoughtful my date was. He got ketchup for a little girl who was to shy to go ask for her own, and offered his milk up to another who forgot her drink. He even offered to help me finish my tiny cup of ice cream. I feel lucky to have been able to share my ice cream with such a little gentleman. Although this date took place in a school cafeteria, this may just have been the best lunch date I have ever been on!!

Teacher's Week
As many of you know this week is Teacher Appreciation week. I have known for weeks about this but wasn't sure what I was going to do for Chase's teacher Mrs. Frusteri. Ever had one of those "eh" teacher's? Although I have helped out every week in Chase's class she just isn't one of those teacher's you rave about. She has grown on me...slowly. I did make a door sign for her door and Chase loved helping out with making this.
As little as I have been thrilled with this school year this is what makes it all worth it....
One super excited first grade boy, who could not wait to give his teacher this HUGE bottle of m&m's. Isn't that why we do so many things? On to the high school and preschool went these cute little bottles of mountain dew and m&m's with a note attached that read: Many, Many thanks for all you "dew"!
For all the teacher's out there, we hope you have a great week filled with thanks!!

Season begins..
Less than 24 hours after Kelsey's softball season ended Chase's baseball season began (I did enjoy those few hours of relaxation..ha!) This year we are on the Red Sox team. This is his first year Chase is playing FARM, although he is still 6 he was bumped up from t-ball. This is a whole new experience. No more going easy, no more "just one more pitch"....these parents are serious. Luckily Chase has no fear and was ready to get swinging!
The first couple of games were spent mostly in center field waiting for a fly ball...or any ball to come his way.
The first couple of games were spent mostly in center field waiting for a fly ball...or any ball to come his way.
The last few games he was asked to be catcher, or rather volunteered. Did I mention he has no fear? He is the littlest on the team, but was ready to take on a big job. He looks so cute drowning in the catchers outfit. As nervous as I am watching, it makes me smile watching him have fun.
Speaking of FUN, I saw this poem the other day and wanted to write it down so I will remember what it is all about (Okay really I wish I could give this to a few parents who I want to strangle at the games).
HE'S JUST A LITTLE BOY
He stands at the plate with his heart pounding fast;
The bases are loaded; the die has been cast,
Mom and Dad cannot help him; he stands all alone.
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball nears the plate; he swings and he misses;
There's a groan from the crowd; with some boos and some hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the bum!"
Tears fill his eyes; the game's no longer fun.
Remember-He's just a boy who stands all alone.
So open your heart and give him a break,
For it's moments like this a man you can make.
Keep this in mind when you hear someone forget.
He's just a little boy, not a man yet.
