Are you my mother?

So many of you may remember that blessed event we had just a few weeks ago with the surprise of 6 kittens. Well since then we have lost one....the one I am referring to is their mother. She left one night last week and we haven't seen her since. The kittens were still solely feeding from mommy which made this so heart breaking. These poor babies were crying all night for Tink (mommy). It broke my heart to see them so scared and hungry. So when she didn't return in the morning I rushed out and got them some kitten food. I had to feed it to them at first and teach them how to drink water. Many of you may not know but you also have to stimulate them to go to the bathroom that young (the mom does this until she teaches them to go on their own), so I got to help with that as well...yup every few hours it was time to feed and bathe the kittens. Now they are all eating on their own and we are still working on using the litter box. We hadn't planned on naming them really since they were not going to belong to us. But all the little nicknames we had given them have now kind of turned into real names. So on with the introductions: This is a female. She really was like the white sheep in a black liter. Her coloring is so cool she has just bits of grey in her paws and face and has a really cool striped tail. From the beginning she was most favorites. Her personality is completely different from all the rest. She is carefree and wild!! She is always running and has been the first to do everything and is much faster than the others. She is litter trained and very smart! From the beginning we joked and called her crank because she was so spazzy. We have since then called her CRACKER. A little better than crack? She is mothering to the others and even tries to bury the others poop, and has ventured to trying the doggy door already.

Next we have another female. In the beginning we were calling her wolf (before we knew her gender), because she was always crying for mommy if you held her or she couldn't see her mom. She definitely is the biggest whiner. She had the hardest time losing Mommy and refused to eat for 2 days! On the flip side she is the first to climb on your lap and has the LOUDEST purr. So cute! She has two brown spots, one on her face and one on her back so we chose to call her CHARLIE. Next is yet another female, this one from the beginning was my favorite. I love her coloring. She is a dark grey but all underneath she is white and has white paws. She looks just like a reversed skunk. She is always the number 2 in crime and is right behind Cracker in whatever she is doing. She is the best orphan and is always climbing in the box to be alone. We call her SKINK. Not sure why, it just kind of fits. This is a male, one of only 2 in the litter. This poor guy had a rough start I think. You can't really tell so much now but when he was born he had the hugest head! I mean really big. He also has a stunted tail. Matt said he looked like he had downs syndrome. Sadly when the kids play with them, he is always picked last. So from the Downs comment we just started calling him CORKEY(remember that show Life goes on). Sad I know but it stuck. This is a female? I can't see it's tail so I think this is the female. This is a twin. I know you may think I'm crazy but I am convinced that cats can have twins. Seriously unless you see these two tails you cannot tell them apart. This one looked the most like Tink so we decided to call her BELLE (get it? Tink-belle). She is sooo cute. She loves to cuddle and is always first to climb on you and just snuggle. Don't believe me about the twins check it out:This is the male twin (again now I'm not sure). The only way to tell these two apart seriously is to look at their tail. The male has a much shorter tail. In the beginning the kids were calling him "stub man". He was the only one we were sure was a male. We have since called him KODA. He is the most playful and is always wrestling with someone whether they want to or not.
Here they are together. Aren't they cute? They are always together, and if you separate them they cry for the other one. So I guess the answer to the question...Yes, I am your mother. It will be hard to say goodbye when the time comes, but I am attached to all of them now, I don't think I could keep just one. Any takers?
