Last week Chase turned another year older.....12! Sadly his birthday fell on a school day, so we had to make the best of it. He requested homemade chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, which made for an early 5:30 wake up time for me :/
He opened his birthday cards he had received from family.Kelsey had sent him a fun card, along with an iTunes card which he was ridiculously excited about (and spent faster than you can imagine).
We let him open the few gifts from us so he had something to look forward too after school. He got a couple of new video games he has been wanting.
Poor kid hadn't had homework all year...until his birthday, which left him a small window for playing after school. Matt had to work late, and Sadi had cheer practice so it was just him and I for dinner. I took him to a nice little restaurant 1st and 10 which is right by our new house.
We ordered some wings for an appetizer which came out looking more like steak on a stick which we had a good laugh about. Chase ordered a make your own burger which he could barely smash down enough to bite into it was so big.
Later that night after Sadi and Matt were home we had homemade ice cream sandwich's...cookie dough ice-cream fit between two warm chocolate chip cookies (our homemade version of the Baked Bear).
It felt a little like an "off" birthday since we weren't all together, and school took up such a big chunk of the day, but we made up for it the next day. Can't believe we have hit this mile mark already!
