Final Game

Friday night was Kelsey's final Softball game of the season.  She did really well this year and learned a lot.  After many late practices, and game after game I think she was ready for the season to come to an end.   I forgot to take many pictures of her (I blame the little kids who were always asking if it was almost over) but she did look so cute in her uniform...
even if she had to sneak in her love of football.  She was pretty excited to get Austin Collie's number.
It was fun to watch her in the game, and make some good plays...and some fumbles.
So when it was all over, as we heard the "good game, good game, good game", it was time to sigh a relief...
and then remember in less than 24 hours we would be getting up early to start cheering for a new team.  That's right opening day of baseball for Chase.  As one ends, so another begins......

Future Hawk

Today I took Sadi to the "big kid school", for her!!  Yup, it's that time.  Kindergarten Registration.  I can't believe this day is here already (good thing I still have many months to let it fully sink in).  I can't believe this little tot will be going to this big school....
I hope this big kid school is ready for her, because she is going to be one Super Hawk!!  When I say super I am keeping my fingers crossed she is super good and not super bad.

Spring Break

The day after Easter began the kids spring break week.  It has been nice being able to sleep in, and not have any practices to go to every day (well Kelsey had some but it didn't seem to suck all of our time).  On Monday night we surprised the kids with a trip to Reno to see the Aces(our minor league baseball team) vs. the Utah Bees!!  Kelsey and I had to pick a team as we felt loyalty to both.  It is a really nice stadium and I think we will be going again soon.
Only the bravest would get their picture taken with the mascot "Archie".  It was a fun game and we stuffed the kids with their dollar nachos which were to big for some of us to even finish.  Sadi loved it!!  She especially wants to go back and see the big baseball she is sure that his name was Cotton Eye Joy (they played that while he came out).
We spent the rest of the week shopping, eating out, playing lots of games including the Wii until our arms hurt, family movie night, and just having fun being together.  As the week winds down I can tell some of us have had enough "togetherness" and it is time to get back to a normal schedule.  Now if we could get mother nature on board for a little sunshine again that would make all the upcoming baseball and softball games we have this week just perfect!

Easter Weekend

We had a really nice Easter weekend.  We started the weekend off with coloring eggs.  I'm not sure the kids were to thrilled I only allotted them 6 eggs a piece but they were done coloring them in record time so I didn't really feel to bad...especially since there is about 10 still left...really how many boiled eggs can you eat?  We came out with some cute little bunnies and chicks when we were all done.
On Saturday Kelsey had softball all day so we decided to take Chase and Sadi to the big egg hunt in Carson City put on by the Governor.  I had heard alot about it (all good) and it sounded fun.  12,000 eggs hidden on the baseball fields...how could that not be fun?  Well....although it looked sunny it was windy and freezing!  We had to stand in line for the kids until it was time for the hunt, which turned out not to be a hunt really just thousands of eggs scattering the field.  The countdown and I joke you not the "hunt" was over in less than 30 seconds.  Sadi made out with a whopping 2 eggs...with no candy, how fun.
At least we got a photo with the Easter bear?  That was all OK, lesson learned right?  No the fun didn't end there, it ended in the parking lot where we got stuck not moving for 40 minutes...and when we did move it took another 40 minutes to get out!  I know a little about parking and I have to give the governor a HUGE F on moving traffic.   There were plenty of officers there...just watching...on their horses!!!  Hello!!!  Matt made me blog about this so that we never, ever forget how not fun it was.  Seriously tell your friends DO NOT GO.  EVER.
Finally Easter morning arrived.  Way to early...5:30.  Any guesses who?   Chase.  I made him wait until 7 to wake everyone else which was pure torture (for both of us).    That bunny did come and brought new baskets filled with fun, and sugar!
Chase was annoyed there were no eggs anywhere to be found (guess that bunny knew who would be up early huntin' before the girls).  When we opened the blinds Sadi spotted some eggs outside.  So it was off to hunt in the backyard, where there were plenty of eggs for everyone.
Daddy made us a big breakfast, and we spent the day playing angry birds,
coloring our new doodle pet ( which by the end of the day this purple bunny was colored entirely blue),
and the older kids took looong naps.  Apparently 7 a.m. is still to early.
It was such a beautiful day we headed to the park to play some baseball.  It was really fun and nice to have a big family when playing a baseball game.  Daddy was convinced he could hit a home run which he did, by cheating!
The kids got lots of practice fielding all those "almost" balls.
And if you need someone to cover first, here's your girl...literally covering first.
It was a really enjoyable weekend and so nice to spend so much quality time with our kids.  Hope you all had an enjoyable holiday.

The last laugh...

Hope you all had a good laugh yesterday for April Fool's day.  We love to trick our kids all the time.  Chase remembered what day was coming up (with no help, I purposely did not tell them), so I knew it was going to be a long day with them.  Sure enough all day they were playing jokes on me.  You know the most annoying ones a 4 and 6 year old can come up with...there's a spider on your head, I pooped mom, etc.  And I am NOT exaggerating when I said they did this ALL DAY LONG. But I knew I would get the last laugh, and I did!  Before dinner I showed them what they would be getting for dessert because they had been naughty all day long.  I placed this yummy dessert on the table for them.  Doesn't it look appetizing?

Mmmmm, kitty litter!  They were completely disgusted.  Before you gag, let me tell you this is completely edible (and most of us ate it).  Chase and Sadi screamed in horror when I told them they had to take at least one bite (just like with any new food).  They cried, they pleaded, they were so sorry for playing so many April fool's jokes.  Chase was paralyzed with fear at even smelling it here.
So yes, I had the best laugh..actually we laughed so hard I almost peed my pants.  Spider on my head?  Amateurs!!  Let me know if you want the recipe for this cake..it was delicious.  Even better with laughter.
