L-O-V-E

We had a lovely Valentines weekend.  Thursday night we were busy making class Valentines.
I gave both kids many choices on what kind of Valentines they wanted to make for their class.  Not to surprising they both picked these Mine craft Valentines.  We did at least make Sadi's class some pink ones.
I have always loved Valentines day ever since I was little.  I remember the torture of picking the "right" valentine for everyone in my class (didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea...and others to get the hint). I see the same struggle with my kiddos now.
With Valentines Day coming right after I return home every year I feel less prepared for this day every year.  We went with a super simple Valentine for the teacher's this year.  Seems like S'mores can be used for just about any occasion now.
Friday the kids celebrated in their classes with a party.  Chase's class was suppose to have a healthy party.  So I made these little love bugs on a log for him...kinda healthy?  I felt a little guilty until I took them to his class and saw all the cupcakes/cookies and sugar.  My contribution was about the healthiest thing there.
I was in charge of the party for Sadi's class.  I have got wise to these late in the day parties and knew I didn't need to plan much.  I learned in years past that just handing out Valentines is about all they have time to do.  So that is what they did and then had about 5 minutes to enjoy their snacks.  I made these Valentine floats that were a hit, and pretty tasty.  I think the best part of these floats was the licorice straw.
After school we headed home to dump and read all our love notes.
Chase thought this Hunk Valentine was just hilarious.  Nothing says love like a man in his undies.
It's always fun to pick a winning Valentine and a loosing one.  This year there was no contest (I don't think).  This was one of Chase's "Valentine's".....
Ewwe!  I am all about saving a buck but really?  This just grossed me out.  There are only two possibilities for this in my mind.  Either you got a REALLY good deal on some Christmas candy....OR you just rummaged your house and picked some leftover candy from your stocking.  Either way this is a Valentine Fail in my book.  Saturday I was treated to breakfast in bed by Matt and the kids.  I made this breakfast for the kiddos....
After breakfast they were sent on their yearly treasure hunt.  And once again I realized their rhyming skills need work.  They rhymed more words with "poop" that I knew possible.
They did end up finding their treasures.  This year I stole my sisters idea and made them some huge heart shaped rice crispy treats.  They must have tasted good because they kept saying how soft these ones were, not like the one in the packages we usually have.
I made Matt a little bouquet too.  Who doesn't want a beef jerky bouquet?
The day was just gorgeous with the temp. reaching record highs of 72.  We went for a walk, and enjoyed sitting outside with the kids.  We sent the kids to their rooms for the evening and enjoyed dinner alone.  Chinese and a romantic movie...my kind of night.  I am lucky to have so many loves in my life.

Back from the city of sun

I just returned this past week from Phoenix after working again at the Super Bowl.  This year was different for many reason, but mostly how little down time there was.   I actually had to steal this photo from my Boss, because I never actually made time to take a decent photo of the stadium although it was just a parking lot away.
As you can tell from the prior photo it didn't turn out to be "the city of sun" all the time, in fact I'm pretty sure I saw more rain than they normally get.  As with every city we go to it seems there is some odd weather phenomenon and the locals ALWAYS say "we never have a winter this bad".  Besides the flyover this is as much of the Super Bowl as I got to see...pretty good firework display I gotta say.
The best part of work for me is catching up with those I only see once a year, and making new friends that I hope to see again...and a few I hope I don't.
