Our Thanksgiving weekend was so nice. The kids had Wednesday off of school and I thought it would be fun to do a little Christmas shopping for their friends and then go take them to see the "turkey movie" a.k.a. Free Birds. I was a bit annoyed that all the theatres that were close to us weren't playing it anymore (although I THOUGHT it just came out). We had fun shopping then headed out to the theatre (over an hour away). When we got there they told us they took it out so they could show Frozen instead...hmmmph! We had planned to go as an entire family to see Frozen together but what ya gonna do?
The kids were thrilled to see it, and it was a very cute movie although I felt guilty that the rest of the family was not there with us. The kids have only tortured everyone who didn't get to go by quoting the movie, and singing the music from it ever since. I'm pretty sure this kid would sit through ANY movie as long as you let her hold the bucket of popcorn....she was in heaven. We had talked a few weeks before about what everyone wanted to have for Thanksgiving. Matt was the only one who wanted a turkey dinner. I joked maybe we should just order Chinese to which I got a surprising OH YEAH from everyone. Matt had to work all day (which they served him turkey dinner with all the trimmings so he wasn't completely sad). When he got home we sat down to feast on Chinese.
We all wrote down some things we are thankful for. I was only slightly appalled that Chase wrote "Chinize people", and laughed at Sadi's thankfulness for "Mom makein Diner". We each got a good laugh reading our fortunes...or the lack there of. Matt's fortune cookie had no fortune....sad, yes. I'm hoping mine comes true: A RESORT AREA WILL BE PART OF YOUR NEXT HOLIDAY PLANS.
Right before we were going to eat Sadi announced she did not like Chinese, and never had! I was not at all surprised(I am used to her flipping from LOVING something to HATING it). I actually did prepare her meal...Peanut Butter and Jelly. I guess that is why I found it so funny she was thankful for Mom making her dinner.
After dinner it was time to snuggle up and watch our traditional Thanksgiving day Movie...ELF!
We are so thankful every day for our family near and far away.

Looks like some of our Thanksgivings at home, although this year we did revert to the traditional meal. Chinese is a good option...may have to try that. We have yet to see Frozen...glad to hear it is worth checking out. And next time, get the BIG popcorn will ya;)
